Gear shift arm rear support
The bush on the right is a new item from BMW. normally this would be in a welded in support on the underside of the transmission tunnel but in the case of the Sportster nothing exists so I've made up the bracket on the left. It's made from 2mm mild steel though I wish I'd used 1.5mm just to make it easier to work with. I formed the loop using various unorthodox bending and crushing techinques in the vice around a 24mm socket as a template. It's neither as round or symetrical as I'd like but as no one will ever see it it doesn't really matter. once the paint has dried I'll fix it to the underside of the transmission tunnel using 4 x M4 screws
