Inglewood Lawn Bowling Club

Inglewood, Calgary

The Inglewood Lawn Bowling Club, originally the Chinook Club, was created by employees at the CPR's Alyth Shops and their spouses in the early 1930s. The club moved to the current location about 1936, on land donated by Helen Rothney (Nell) Cross, widow of Calgary brewer and Big Four rancher A. E. Cross and daughter of Colonel James F. Macleod of NWMP fame. The land is now City property. The clubhouse, dating from 1946, was renovated and enlarged in 1996-97.
