Golden Gate Light Trails
The flavor of the month seems to be "Light Trails". Recently there have been tons on "light trail" photos on Explore everyday. Here's one from my archives that I had shelved since I hadn't had chance to process it.
Canon XSi
18-55 mm @ 36mm
ISO 100
6 sec @ f/11
No HDR
This photo was taken when I did not have any filters at my disposal. I tried using a polarizer to cut out 2 stops of light, but discarded all those photos, since the street lights caused a lot of flares with the polarizer. Ideally - I would have liked to capture this a little earlier in the day which would have reduced the halo caused by the street-lights.
Here's one of my first attempts at Selective Coloring. The original image - by itself - is not so bad, but the lack of any interesting elements in the sky and the foreground makes it a little flat. I came up with this processing idea in order to cut out the clutter and minimize the effects of all the distracting elements.
