The James Cropper plc Burneside Mill on the outskirts of Keswick is home to a lovely little electric generation unit housing a W.H. Allen Turbine coupled to a Bruce Peebles Alternator. It's almost tragic that the original Metropolitan Vickers Turbo-Gen set has been removed, but the replacement is still to be rated given the rarity of the other two companies presence in industry nowadays.
The Mill at Burneside was formed as a paper mill in 1845 and is still operated and owned by the Cropper family.
