Inspiration: Christmas traditions from Finland
Result: Sheaves of oats being given to birds for Christmas

Notes: One of the things my mother would do was feed the birds at Christmas by tying stalks of grain to a stick and planting it in the snow. This is a tradition that she brought with her from Finland and I remember gathering grain from the fields & tying them in bundles to hanging to dry in the barn, so they would be nicely shaped and ready for winter.
