The steam engine that won the Rainhill Trials of 1829 is returning to the town this bank holiday weekend (25-27 May 2019).
A replica of Robert Stephenson’s Rocket will be on display to commemorate 190 years since it beat four other locomotives in a one-mile railway race through Rainhill Village. It was the only one to make it to the end.
