Cape Town International Airport Terminal
The Cape Town International Airport has a marvelously 'photogenic' terminal. This is the first of a series that I took there. Traveling from the Vineyard Hotel, where I presented a paper, to the Airport alerts one to the MASSIVE INEQUALITIES in South Africa, with arguably the highest Gini Coefficient of any middle-income country. One passes through the Cape Flats and past informal settlements or 'Favelas'.. I'm not afraid to make political statements: unless, globally, rising and/or persistent inequalities are not addressed, democracy as we have come to know it is imperiled.
