Proudly African!

This was captured looking eastwards across part of Johannesburg from the top of the tallest building on the African continent, the Carlton Centre, just as the sun is starting to set! Completed in 1973, the vast Carlton centre was designed - as so many of the world's tallest buildings have been - by Skidmore, Owens and Merrill of Chicago. Alas, it was an uncommonly hazy winter evening, but it was taken as close to the Winter Solstice as we could get. Even so, it gives an indication of the extraordinary quality of the Highveld "southern sunlight" as it reflects off the edifices of the buildings.
