Lake Mackay is a dry lakebed in Western Australia. Lake Mackay measures approximately 100 kilometers in diameter.

Darker areas indicate algae, some moisture within the soils of the dry lake, and the lowest elevations where water pools.

Due to the arid environment, salts and other minerals are carried to the surface via capillary action caused by evaporation producing the white reflective surface.

This photograph documents the red appearance of the dry parts of Western Australia’s Great Sandy Desert next to brilliant white salt and meager blue moisture.

Co-ordinates off GPS- but my battery was running low so unlikely to be accurate.
