abandoned subway/streetcar portal under construction

Foundry Street, South Boston

 

I think this was used for streetcars in the early 1900s and used to connect to Broadway Station. It's now being demolished and turned into a place to conduct MBTA emergency test drills, or something. I'm not entirely sure of the whole story.

 

This was my second attempt to get pictures of this -- the first time there were so many people around (construction crew) I thought I'd be too conspicuous. (I also didn't think to come up here on the overpass...)
