Regional train at Kingston, RI station
Today is National Train Day. Yes there is such a thing, Amtrak invented it of course, but I'm all in favor of a day where your're supposed to hang around train stations and ride trains (not that I personally need a special day for that...)
This is the Kingston, RI station which is an Amtrak station and has a railroad museum inside it. There was supposed to be something going on here for National Train Day, but really wasn't. That's okay though, because every time I've passed this station on a train, I've wanted to come back to see it up close.
This station seemed to have 1 Amtrak employee working here, who was the ticket agent most of the time, but when a train arrived, he came out onto the platform, I guess to help with the boarding process. At most small stations passengers board by themselves, so I'm not sure why this guy was needed out there, except to get in the way of my pictures (that's his arm on the left.)
