Critical analysis

My project is about a pilot in flight who gets irritated while in a conversation through video transmission. He starts calmly and tries to contain his anger, ending up with intentionally interrupting the transmission. After deciding fairly quick on Razor from Swat Kats, an 93-94' Hanna Barbera cartoon and a quote from Top Gun, I quickly got hold of some free references of the character together with different body and facial expressions of the character from a website dedicated to the cartoon. Being a massive fan of the cartoon myself, I worked a fair amount of time on the mesh to get it to look almost exactly as the 2D character. One of the difficulties that I managed to overcome by doing a bit of editing and drawing was the reference themselves, being originally for 2D animation and not 3D.modelling. As soon as the modelling was complete, I considered that a good model requires good texturing, and taking into account that it is still a cartoon character, I tried to create textures that blend the cartoonish style with a bit of 3D realistic style, giving it a unique look and in the same time keeping the same colours for him as in the 2d animation..

After passing through skining and rigging failry quick and easy thankfully in most part to a decent mesh, I finally got to the animation part. Using the reference obtained from the fansite regarding the different emotions of the character, together with research on the anger emotion expression through watching different actors perform and the cartoon itself, I got to an initial animation of the character, which got improved through feedback. The only part that I am a bit dissapointed of is the lighting of the character as I consider slightly too strong, even after experimenting a bit with it, and would be the only thing I would change in my scene.
