Stripy dress instructions
Here’s a simple pattern for the stripy dress:
Yarn: fingering weight yarn, gauge for 10cm/4” of stst should be about 28-30 sts. 3mm circular needles in various sizes, and dpns for the sleeves. I used Marks & Kattens Fame Trend in two dfferent colors, working 4 rows in each color.
CO 216sts. Join to work in the round. I did a K1P1 ribbing for four rows, but it curls up quite a bit. A folded hem might work out better. Continue in st st. Place stitch markers to each side, so that you have na equal amount of stithes for the front and the back. Decrease four stitches every eight rows eight times, and every sixth rows six times, on both side of each marker. Continue straight for another 15cm. Place 12 sts. on both sides of the body on holders and leave the rest of the stitches on the circular needle. CO 64sts for the sleeve. K1P1 for 4 rows for the ribbing, continue in st st. until you are happy with the lenght. The sleeves in my dress measure about 6cm. Put 12 sts on a holder and leave the rest on a circular needle or dpns. Repeat for the other sleeve. Join the sleeves and the body: knit 68sts from the back, 52sts from the right sleeve, 68sts from the front and 52sts from the left sleeve. Knit for about 9cm, then work the 1st decrease round: *K2,K2tog* repeat, knit for 4.5cm and work the 2nd decrease round: *K1,K2tog*repeat, knit for 3.5cm and work the 3rd decrease round: *K1,K2tog*repeat. If you wish, you may work some short row shaping after this, so that the back of the neck is higher than the front. Work back and forth, wrapping the sts when you turn, and making the rows shorter every time. Start working in the round again for the collar. Knit about 3cm, then purl 1 row and knit for another 3cm. BO really loosely. Turn the collar where the purled row is and weave the BO edge on the inside of the neck. Weave the underarm stitches you left on holders earlier.
