Cliff Palace Dwelling
Located in Mesa Verde National Park Colorado this is the largest of the Anasazi Dwellings .Cliff Palace is the largest cliff dwelling at Mesa Verde National Park. It has 150 rooms, plus an additional 75 open areas. Twenty-one of the rooms are kivas, and 25 to 30 rooms have residential features. The number of Ancestral Puebloans living in Cliff Palace at any one time was 100 to 120.
It is seen with a tour guide from the park and quite informative at the incredible price of only three dollars!!
In the Winter of 1888, ranchers Richard Wetherill and Charlie Mason searched the canyons for stray cattle, they unexpectedly came upon Cliff Palace. The next year, the Wetherill brothers and Mason explored an additional 182 cliff dwellings.On June 29, 1906, President Theodore Roosevelt established Mesa Verde National Park to "preserve the works of man," the first national park of its kind.What incredible fore site this man had saving this for one and all to further enjoy!An absolute "must see"to anyone who loves history and nature!!!
