Ring-necked? Really?
This is a pair of "Ring-necked Ducks". The male is behind, and shows the typical view of him. The thin, faint brownish ring coloration in his neck is seldom visible. But both the adult male and female show a strong "white ring" on their bills. I have often wondered why this species was not called "Ring-billed Ducks".
This pair was seen among a group of about twenty Ring-necked Ducks at Celery Fields, Saratoga County, Florida.
