Tiny plant, Big Flower
At first I thought a vine of bindweed covered the ground in the early morning at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal NWR. Closer inspection revealed that the 3 inch(7.5cm), unique white flowers were on individual plants that were only about 2 inches (5cm) tall. The flowers were composed of four heart-shaped white petals and pale yellow stringy stamens and stigma.
These native Colorado wildflowers are Tufted Evening-primrose, and true to their name, the flowers were wilted by about 11 a.m.
