Rhododendron Trail
Hiking in late spring on the Olympic Peninsula is a great time to see wild rhododendrons alongside the trail. This species, the Pacific Rhododendron (Rhododendron macrophyllum) is the state flower of Washington, and the forests are absolutely filled with them. They can grow up to 30 feet tall (over nine meters). I took this shot standing near the top of Mount Zion (4,278 ft – 1,304 m) looking across towards Mount Townsend (6,243 ft – 1,903 m).
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, full of light and color.
