does that happen

so as it was a rather nice Summers evening I decided to take a walk around to my dad's place.

was a pleasant stroll, not too fast. I took a couple of selfies that I thought just showed the guy I am. it's all about the light.

I took the long way through his village past two pubs we drank in and the corner shop. then past the house we I lived in once upon a time.

as I got closer to his house, a strange thing happened.

a door to a house on the other side of the road to me opened, and an older lady said something to me in an American accent.

thinking she wanted a hand with something I said "pardon," so typically English anyway she said something like this.

" I saw you from my kitchen window and just had to come and say how beautiful you look."

of course, I said thank you in a very embarrassed way. and she then said, " we have to stick together. we don't tell each other we look nice enough"

we had a little chat a few words, and off I went back on my little journey.

she made my day if not my month, but I ain't that much of anything to warrant someone doing such a thing.
