Close up of the electronics. Some basses have the red and black battery wires swapped over by mistake. The polarity is marked with a small plus and minus sign on the board near the solder joint connecting them to the board. With possibly the aide of a magnifying glass, check the red goes to + and the black to -. If they are don't you can either swap them round, or just remember that when changing the battery, it needs to go back into the battery holder the "wrong" way round. It doesn't seem to harm the bass if the battery is inserted with reverse polarity, it just won't work.
Unplug the piezo cables from the circuit board sockets. It might be advisable to put a piece of sticky tape on one piezo cable so you can identify which way round they go when re-assembling.
