Ares Leviathan: Finest Hour
Blue Eyes
Somewhere in Wisconsin, there is a cattle ranch, like every other cattle ranch, fields, fences, facilities, a farmhouse...but what it lacks, is occupants. No cattle, no owners, no ranch-hands. No one. In fact, all the buildings are boarded up and look run down, but for some reason, the fields look freshly grazed.
If you happen to be walking by this ranch when the fog sets in deep within the fields, you'll be astounded to see an army of cattle walking straight toward the fence. Their eyes glow a bright blue and it cuts right through the fog. They will continue to approach the fence and begin staring straight at you. If you walk, they will follow. If you continue walking, you'll notice the main gate is unlatched. Do not enter the gate.
Instead, you must run straight passed it and keep running. Don't even bother to look behind you, you won't want to see what's there. Keep running until you see an old warehouse, which will be quite easy to spot. Like the ranch, it will be run-down and abandoned. When you find it, rush toward it and you'll see a bay door, stuck slightly open. Duck under it as fast as you can. and turn left to find a lever. Pull it...Now! This will buy you some time.
At this point, you are free to look about the warehouse. You should find offices on one end of the building. Many of them will be trashed and evidence that maybe the homeless had lived here at one point.
The last office is labeled "Janitor's office" with an amber light glowing inside the door. Go inside and you'll notice a teddy bear on the ground. The moment you pick it up, you'll hear heavy breathing behind you. Rush to a corner in the room and place the teddy bear in front of you. Now, if you're brave, you can look to see who was breathing.
It's a woman, or a least, a figure of a woman. Hunched and ragged. You can only guess it's a woman because of the frail shape and the stringy hair. You can't actually tell who, or what she is because she is silhouetted by the amber light, so you have trouble making out her exact features. But one thing you do recognize is her eyes. Those bright, blue eyes. She shuffles forward, almost zombie-like, just as another figure steps in. And another. And another. Pretty soon the room is filled with them. All with the same, glowing eyes. They begin to speak in soft, raspy voices as the start to get closer and closer to you. At this point, you MUST close your eyes. Don't open them. No matter what.
They will say terrible things to you. They'll hurl insults, tell you dark stories, temptations to get up and leave. This will go on for several hours. You should be warned, some have gone insane and burst out running. No matter what you do, stay in the corner with your eyes closed. When, the time comes, they will stop talking and you'll start hearing the mooing of cows. When you open your eyes, there will be nothing. But the mooing will still continue. For the rest of your days, you will occasionally hear the sound of mooing coming from places you never would expect to see a cow. The closet, the office, even the bathroom.
You can now go away from this place. When you pass the ranch again, you'll feel something inside the teddy bear you've hopefully brought with you. Rip it open and you'll find a hoof with a slab of paper containing words that will change your life. You must then drop the bear, take the paper and the hoof, and leave.
Never go back to the ranch ever again.
