Presented by angels with a heavenly crown inscribed "From grace not as a debt" , Edmund Anderson 1607-1638 of Eyworth & Stratton , with wife Alice Constable clasping a heart between them inscribed "to God 1638". (monument by Edward Marshall) Below is Dorothy +++ their only child.

"In the sepulchre of his fathers towards the upper end of the chancel on the north side lyeth buried the body of Edmund Anderson esq, eldest sonne & heire of Sir Francis Anderson Kt, Grandeson of Sir Edmond Anderson sometime Lord Chief Justice of the Common Pleas. He married Alice the sole daughter & heire of Sir John Constable, late of Dromanby in the countie of Yorke, kt, by whome he had issue onely one daughter named Dorothy. He all his time truly professed & constantly adhered to the true and uncorrupted faith of Christ Jesus, & as he held the unitie of ye spirit with the church, so also ye band of perfect peace, love & charitie with men, in God who gave him that grace hath received him to mercie to which he went on ye 4th day of Aprill Anno Dom 1638 leaving behind him ye said daughter aged 7 yeares & a halfe, and his wife a sorrowfull widow who with him hath intomb'd her heart......... (words excised) ... dedicating this small monument to his deare & loved memorie which in ye meanetime she sadly contemplates"
