SOO 6037 Northbound Ethanol Train North of Greene IA
Back in 2010 an Iowa Northern loaded ethanol train out of Hawkeye Renewable Energy at Butler, IA, heads north towards the DM&E at Nora Springs, IA. Here the train pokes along at 10 mph a couple miles north of Greene. The Iowa Northern gets the DM&E power at Nora Springs and runs it down to the Butler Yard, near Shell Rock, IA. The Iowa Northern then assembled the trains for DM&E and then delivers it back to them at Nora Springs for points east.
As 2018 moves along Soo Line power is becoming less and less common on the CP roster. Soo 6037 became the CP 6301 in June 2017.
