Pinhole Camera (Model 35)

This is my "Model 35". It is a 35mm pinhole camera which I designed and built back in 2015, which the hopes of selling online. Unfortunitally, this never happened due to a number of reasons including time/cost required to build each unit, as well as fees such websites charge.

During the course of its development, I experimented with a variety of materials including bulsa wood (left) and MDF board (right). I tried to keep the design as simple as possible (as fewer parts would keep production costs down and allow for faster build time). I also built a 120 rollfilm version, which I dubbed the "Model 120".

I used wooden dowls for the rewind and advance spools. The rewind and advance knobs are bottle caps attached to the dowls with epoxy. For the Advance sppol a long, thin slit was cut down the center so the film could be fed through, and it does a decent job of holding onto the film as it advances. Three full turns of the advance wheel is enough to advance the film one full frame (Although the spacing of the frames is irregular and become closer near the end of the film) I also attacked a nut at the bottom of the camera so it would be mounted to a tripod. The insides were made black with a marker. For the pinhole I used a small square cut from a pop can, and made a pinhole about 0.3 (which I found to produce suprisingly clear pinhole images).

I am posting the plans if anyone wants to try building one for themselves. If you do, please let me know how it turned out.
