Note that it was manually operated, with a crank. In the background is the shop that was also operated by the petrol franchisee. It was the former premises of SCOA (Société Comerciale de l'Oueste Afrique), which had opened this station in the late 1950s. SCOA closed its Pendembu branch in 1958.
