Broken Star Quilt
I machine pieced this Broken Star quilt within three weeks back in 2009. Sometimes there wasn't enough fabric for all the diamonds (in the same row) and I had to find replacements in my scrap bin. For this reason I wasn't able to use the time-saving strip piecing method. I cut all the diamonds at first and then laid them out on the floor. Assembling the diamonds was quickly done, but afterwards I run out of steam. So this quilt top had great potential for ending up in my UFO pile.
In August 2010 I bought too much background fabric for a freshly started (blue) scrap quilt. So there was no more reason to postpone finishing this quilt. I hand quilted it within two months with templates bought via internet. It is very soft. After being washed several times, it has almost the look of an antique quilt.
