Hands Across the Sand, Burlington, Vermont - June 26, 2010
In response to the Gulf oil spill, a group of Vermonters organized a Hands Across the Sand event on June 26, 2010, at Oakledge Park in Burlington. People from all over the world joined hands on beaches and other locations—at 12:00 p.m. on the 26th—to draw a line in the sand against the threats of offshore drilling. This event was part of an international movement that opposes offshore oil drilling and champions clean, renewable energy. It is also a first step for many Vermonters asking ‘what can I do’, to get involved.
