Tranquility
With a blue ribbon.
The day settles into calm evening. I was bringing water back to camp, from North Seco Spring. Here the path jogs around some deadfall and into a garden of ferns and asters.
Later, I asked a ranger about the blue ribbon markers. He explained these were put up by a trail crew up a few years ago to mark paths that need maintenance. Interestingly enough, the crew never came back to actually do the work.. they just marked all the paths they traveled while doing the inventory. Neither of us knew why it panned out like this, but I'd make a bet the bureaucrats did it, in triplicate and rubber stamp. I was hoping the blue plastic was recyclable, but the ranger had me beaten: when he goes walking he pulls any blue ribbon he finds, and sometimes collects pocketfuls of the stuff.
Thanks to Ranger Phil Connors for the knowledge and good work. Maybe he will pass by here one day, and the ribbon will be snatched and pocketed. Thank you for viewing!
