Pollinator Fireburst_16x12

Karyn Bland, Enterprise Solutions, Savannah River Nuclear Solutions. The site supports numerous native species of flora and fauna. Shown here is the native milkweed commonly called “butterfly weed.” The Latin name is Asclepias Tuberosa. While a host plant for many insects, the milkweed plant is especially important to monarch butterflies, which depend on the plant for their larvae. The brilliant color and dazzling flower forms are very attractive and inspiring. Especially important in this image is the combination of the wasp shown pollinating the flower, as pollinators are vital to the environment. SRS supports a healthy environment where natives are able to thrive. It is a beautiful image showing the special relationships within nature, where different species rely and support one another.
