Ham Wall
We got to Ham Wall before sunrise......to try and capture the lovely icy misty morning, but as I've never been there before it was hard to know where to go to best capture the place.
On Sunday me and a friend went to Ham Wall nature reserve, part of the somerset levels. Ham Wall is a newly-created wet land and reed bed, now one of the largest in the UK.
We went for the day, higlights were watching the Marsh Harriers hunt and the starling murmuration.
It's early in the season but they have about 200,000 + settling in most evenings. At the moment while the weather is mild they have been splitting in to several groups, so you have to take a chance as where to stop and watch them. They had a chap from the RSPB doing a talk on this evening, he said as winter sets in and it gets colder the flocks could reach a million birds and larger flocks will group together to keep warm over night. So I'll will be going back on the coldest days on Jan/Feb :-)
