Courting adult Gannet.

While working as a North Sea fisherman we were often surrounded by Gannets, sometimes many hundreds perhaps thousands of them. They used to get washed in through the scuppers and peck at our boots until we lifted them back over the side again.

This shot was taken at Troupe Head in the North East of Scotland about forty miles from where I live. Did not see the courting present until I downloaded the photograph.

From my fishing days I was well used to the birds flying above us and the "parcels" they dropped, sometimes with amazing accuracy.

Never thought I would see the day I would be looking down on these birds. But after sixty six years it has finally happened.
