Pinus Mugo 'Sherwood Compact' (Andy Sherwood 1950s) 2020 photo

Pinus Mugo 'Sherwood Compact' (Andy Sherwood 1950s) 2020 photo - Common Name: Mugo Pine Dwarf, Size at 10 years: 2x2ft., dark green needles , USDA Hardiness Zone 2, In Garden Bed S2 for 10.4 YEARS (TC). Planted in 2009.

Iseli Nursery: One of the finest of the TRUdwarf® Mugos, Pinus mugo ‘Sherwood Compact’ displays short, stiff branches that are heavily clothed with slightly twisted needles. Discovered in the 1950’s by plantsman Andy Sherwood, the compact, dense mound produces rich green foliage with golden tips in winter and white fascicles that give plants a radiant look that is full of character.

Mugo pines are noted for unpredictable growth rate. Planted 2009. 11x10in. at ~6 years. Very slow grower. Looks good in 2016. After 8 years, I confirm that it is a slow grower. Not much more than 1 foot in 2018. 17x17 inches in 2019.
