Is your ISP spying on your surfing under the pretext of "streamlined advertising'? Yes, but what makes this different from say, FaceBook, or YouTube analysing your personal profiles? Well, you can filter the information you choose to place on your personal home pages. Unlike 'profiling software' which gives a complete view of the where and when that you visit. And everyone who uses a domestic internet connection has their activity recorded, not just the person who might willingly 'opt-in' to the scheme. Your parents, your children, even your pets if they can click a mouse.
Data about personal net activity is traded through what is called the Open Information Exchange, or OIX - although many people might be unhappy to hear that their surfing habits were being traded 'openly'. You might have installed Norton, McAffee, Windows Defender, etc, to destroy spyware on your personal computer. In the UK, B.T. Broadband customers are to 'enjoy' the benefits of having their surfing recorded by third party company Phorm. There is a Downing Street petition against this. Visit:

ISPs state in their terms and conditions that, "we respect your privacy." Sadly, they also state, " terms and conditions are subject to change."
