Dine And Dash
I caught this Great Blue Heron nabbing its breakfast and getting the heck outta dodge earlier this week. You see, a number of his closest heron/egret friends were witness to the catch and wanted nothing more than to take it away from him/her. This heron actually had the fish swallowed shortly after taking flight to prevent such a catastrophe!
This was all part of a feedy frenzy that was taking place on a small bay of Lake Pleasant near Phoenix, Arizona. My buddy and I captured many scenes like this from his boat in about a 45 minute span. At that point the heat drove the birds for shelter...full bellies and all!
