Who Put That There????
What a place to put a telegraph pole - some people just don't take us flickrites into consideration do they?? LOL
This is the Old Bridge in Warkworth, seen from behind St Lawrence's Church, Northumberland, England. This was constructed in the 14th century, and used until 1965, when it was replaced by a modern bridge. There are pedestrian refuges at either side, and the ruts worn into the stonework by cart and carriage traffic can still be seen. It is one of the very few fortified bridges in the country; the gatehouse was once used as a prison.
