Savethepelican.org is 100% commited to the
welfare of our pelicans in Florida and beyond. Education is
of most importance along with ongoing efforts to rescue the
injured. Thousands of these magnificent birds die each year
due to entanglement in fishing lines, hooks, and hand outs
of fish carcasses.

If you love the pelican and are concerned of its welfare, join this group. Share photos and stories of pelicans you have encountered. Make sure to tell your friend of this goup and ask them to join. The pelican is an incredible, prehistoric bird that can live over 30 years in the wild. Unfortunately many are killed due to the encounter with fishermen. They often get tangled up in fishing lines and if not removed immediately they will die. Another very important point that I would like to make is that you should never feed the pelican discarded fish carcasses!! I mean never, never do it.
