Heat Wave!

Heat Wave!

 

Oh my gosh! It’s so hot!

Feel the temperature soar.

We’re having days of 100,

Very often, much more.

 

The grass is all crinkly,

The creek’s drying up.

The plants beg for water.

Let me fill up a cup

 

With sparkling fresh liquid.

Watch it froth from the tap.

Okay, I am yawning,

In the mood for a nap.

 

I will turn on the fan,

Making sure it’s on high.

Feel the breeze on my face

As I let out a sigh.

 

Hear the soothing swish-swish sounds

As they lull me to sleep.

Never mind all my house chores,

Till tomorrow they’ll keep.

 

Lay my head on a pillow

With a book on my chest.

Though, it’s doubtful I’ll read it

Cause it’s time for some rest
