Graphics and Figurs for 3D Anaglyph Makers. Dear 3D Anaglyph friends : Three years ago, I was amazed at the 3D analglyph photos. I have then bought 3D eye glasses both from Turkey and US to view those; although these glasses were okay, the 3D glasses which I attempted to produce myself here in Turkey yielded better viewing performance then these 3D glasses I purchased. Following that I started to generate my own 3D photos and animations. In my studies, I mostly used scenes from nature and urban city sceneries.
In taking my photos, different from what others had done till now, I pursued an apprach on having better depth perception for objects located at far distances. Briefly I can explain this as follows: According to my observations, depth becomes a critical factor when taking photos of objects located at far distances (such as mountains). When I take my photos, according to the distance of the object that I am interested in at the farther end of the field of view, I set the distance between the two camera locations accordingly. That is, to get a better depth perception, one should set the distance between the two camera locations according to the distance of the object of interest in the field of view. So far, I have seen that people use a fixed camera setup where the two cameras are very close to each other (about 5 to 10 cm), in a way imitating the two eyes in humans. However, I have observed that taking photos with this fixed setup reduces the depth perception for far distance located objects, and thus there is a need to adjust the distance between the two camera locations by widening this gap accordingly. Similarly, When recording 3D videos, this distance also needs to be adjusted just like the way I described in taking photos.
I believe it would be great to create an environment either in internet or perhaps via a physical gathering for people like us who are interested in 3D anaglyph photos. In this way, everyone gets technical information from each other and can pass their experiences to each other, also in this way, we can have a friendly discussion environment in related areas such as 3D TV and 3D movies.
