At the time he was her entire reverie, tinting every thought. A school day was just a reason to see him.

 

He was shy. He was noticeably nervous in her presence. She liked that.

 

She gave him this photograph and note. She was asking for his attention.

 

Summer came and he didn’t return to class the following year.

 

He carried her picture in his wallet for many years. He never saw her again.
