power tower

he told me

he was powerless

and I asked him

what is power?

is it a gun,

a coin,

a pen,

a word?

or is it something more

something beyond our control

it seems to me

that the only power there is

is always someone else's

either given to you

or taken away

in the end,

I told him,

we are all powerless

because everyone

comes into this world

the same way

and everyone leaves it

the same way

and any power we have in between

is not our own

so what is power?

it is temporary

and in the end

it is never yours to keep
