Avro Lancastrian, part jet-powered, at 1949 Woodford air show
As the file name says. I picked up these photos (one more to come) recently, in a bric-a-brac/ephemera shop. They weren't cheap-the guy knew their value to an aircraft enthusiast. From a newspaper cutting in the album containing all the photos, I know they were taken by a young woman who went out to Japan in about 1953, to join her US Serviceman husband.

From some research on Google, quite a few Lancastrians were used as jet test beds, so I can't precisely ID this aircraft. But perhaps someone a good deal older than me, here, could possibly do that and locate the air show, plus give us its date.
When I saw this photo, I thought "Great, a Lancastrian" (a type I never saw-way before my time). But when I had scanned it in and blew up it up, I was then "blown away" to discover that it wasn't just any old Lancastrian (tho that was marvellous enough in itself), but a part jet-powered one, making it even rarer!
