Anthem of Our Dying Day
She knew the consequences. She knew what was at stake. She knew what people said. They said she was crazy, not right in the mind. She was starting to think that maybe they had been right all along. But what they said about her just gave her more motivation.
Fire. That’s how they would remember her. That’s how they would thank her later (And there would definitely be a “later” for her and all of them).
So she ignited the flame, standing at the top of the highest cliff. She laughed as loud as she could, shrilly, almost like a scream at the top of her lungs. Watching it burn, hearing the screams, smelling the smoke, feeling the energy and life of the fire; yet she was still close enough to taste the salty air of the ocean, to breathe it in.
The smoky air, the engery, the vibrance of that fire enveloped her. Her last breath.
But she still stood there. A ghost. A smile on her face, knowing that she had done it. That this was truly The Anthem of Our Dying Day. <3
