Design problems

Illustrator friends: I guess this is an issue for many. How do I avoid these "hairlines" while creating patterns in Illustrator CS6? At first I'd hoped it was just a display issue, but no, they show up in printed proofs. :(

 

Anyone know how to "fix" this?
