Roll 1 FILM Snowy Pine SOOC

My first roll of FILM in at least 20 YEARS (or at least since Jon DeBoer was born...)

 

Camera: Mamiya C220F 80mm ƒ2.8

(I have no clue what the settings were.. although I'm sure I had the focus at infinity)

Film: Kodak Tri-X 400

Location: my backyard

 

I learned many things:

it is TORTURE waiting for film to be developed.

A light meter is pretty easy to use... not sure why I was so afraid of it.

Film feels very "alive"... there is something about it (especially in portraits) that just can't be duplicated in digital.

 

I love my Mamiya.

I've been meaning to "slow down" and think about what I'm doing with the light, the comp, the exposure, the focus, the everything... and having to figure every single detail out manually and in my head rather than doing what a digital camera tells me to do is going to be good for my A.D.D. brain. This is definitely going to be a great sort of journey for me in 2012.

 

I have to pay close attention to keeping the camera level and the parallax distortion that comes from shooting with a TLR.

 

More boring test shots to follow (although they are interesting to me as I journey back to film.)
