Themes & Challenges: hobbies

Does gardening count as a chore, or a hobby? I've been working hard at it for two years now, trying to elevate our back yard from "jungle" status to "it's not horrible". Unfortunately we have no sun.

 

So, no, this isn't a yellow dahlia I grew myself. Rather it's one that I spotted yesterday on a trip to Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania. I think the fact that we were there for some six hours means that gardening is becoming more of a hobby than a chore?
