Rebecca's Edwards Frozen Desserts 2010 Red Carpet Event Contest Entry

This isn't a typical story of a young, single mother who overcame her hardships. This is just a summary of why I consider my mother to be amazing. Not only did she see to my every need, encourage my dreams, and love me; but she also managed to work full-time and go to school. She found a job that bettered our lives and used what money she could to also aid my grandparents in everything from paying bills to buying groceries. Then we were nearly killed in a car accident. Most of my mother's lower body was crushed or broken and in the 6 years since then she's had over 18 surgeries for her injuries. She refused to let them amputate her feet because she said she needed to work. To this day she is often in pain. Then hurricane Katrina hit and she soldiered on. Now, just as I'm getting ready to go off on my own she's taking in my four young cousins. She deserves to rest but she would never put herself first. So she continues to see to the well-being of eight people without complaint.
