Railroading, mountain style
After dropping the first cut of 8 cars at Lewiston, NS 9722 came back down the hill with one buffer car to retrieve the remaining ethanol empties. The train had stalled about ten car lengths after the head end crossed a narrow trestle, so the conductor was unable to walk the train to make another cut.
Unable to get the rest of the cars moving, arrangements were made to have the B27 wayfreight run light up from Goodview to act as a helper for the 633 and shove it the rest of the way to the summit at Lewiston.
Passing through Stockton, B27 is led by a tattered looking DM&E 6364, the "City of Sleepy Eye". Trailing is the dead and drained CP 6034, which the conductor described as a "great big, giant boat anchor".
