Scoresby Chair.
Revd William Scoresby, DD, FRS (1789-1857) was a scientist, explorer, and Master Mariner. He sailed in the clipper ‘Royal Charter’ to test the effect of the compass on iron ships. In 1859 the ship was wrecked off Anglesey. This chair was carved from the wreckage. It was presented to Saint Mary’s in 1922 by Dr Scoresby Jackson.
