More power than nitrous and reusable. My idea is to use compressed air to temporarily boost horsepower and torque in a combustion engine. A carbon fiber air tank will hold 4000psi, regulate this psi to 750 psi and have it power a turbine connected to the back of the tranny. After using the compressed air have the engine power the compressor (green pulley in the drawing) with mechanical advantage to restore your 4000 psi making it reusable.

Output if the 750 psi of compressed air is delivered to a square inch at the end of a turbine fin that is 6 inches radially you would have 375 ft lbs of torque. This is much more than nitrous (150 ft lbs) and with this system I believe all you would have to upgrade is the rear end. Also air regulated to 375 psi would require 2 square inches on the turbine fin for the same results.

This system stores the energy of the combustion engine in the form of air to be used when racing for a thrilling, reusable, burst effect.
