Impact: this attracted tourists to see faster transportation and brought more wealth to the economy as people would pay for admission. This inspired many inventors and engineers to begin their designs for newer and better means of transportation. It was still far too slow, but it showed progress and encouraged engineers and inventors to continue the development of locomotives and other alternate forms of transportation.
