Side Scarf

Side french braid embellished with a scarf

I’ve got the side french braid down. I start behind my bangs, just above the left parietal ridge, and braid in a diagonal to behind my right ear. This style works well with a hat or, like today, a scarf.

A hair scarf is the epitome of chic summer hair. It’s both boho and glam. But so irritating when it slips out! I have three strategies for wearing a hair scarf:

(1) Add some structure to the hair, in the form of a braid, ponytail, or pigtails. These can serve as both a stop to a slipping scarf and a structure to tie it to.

(2) Rough up the hair with some sticky hairspray. The scarf won’t slide as well if the hair has some grip.

(3) Consider retying part of the fun. I wore this look dancing and, yes, I had to retie it a couple of times. The process just adds to the mystique.
